Camiguin

Province: Camiguin off the northern coast of Mindanao.It is also the smallest province and it is part of the Northern Mindanao Region of the country and formerly a part of Misamis Oriental province.
It composes of 5 towns namely Mambajao (Capital Town), Mahinog, Guinsilaban, Sagay and Catarman.

City: Mambajao (Major Town)

Did You Know?
* Camiguin came from the word "Kamagong", a species of the ebony thrives near Lake Mainit in the province of Surigao Del Norte.
* A rabies-free island
* The smallest (pear shape) province in the Northern Mindanao. and second smallest in country, next to Batanes.

Personal Insights:
I have been to Camiguin for 2 times already and I admittedly say that is is one of the most beautiful islands in the Philippines. Being a second timer in the place, i considered myself as a residence already because of the heart warming hospitality of the people that makes you feel welcome and comfortable in the place.

We landed in the new Airport of Cagayan de Oro (CDO), Laguindingan Airport. From the airport, it takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get to Agora Terminal. from Agora Terminal It will take you another 3 hours to get to Balingoan Port. And from Balingoan Port, it will take 45 mins to 1 hour for you get to Benoni Port (Camiguin). But there is also a direct flight to Camiguin via Cebupacific.
Because it is my second time, I didn't find hard to look for a place to stay and contact person for the "motorela", major means of transportation in the island. We contacted our friend from the place and asked him to bring us to places where I was not able to visit the first time and those were the places we've gone through on our first day (see our Camiguin Itinerary on the ITINERARY Section).

Location:

Information:
Camiguin is enriched in geothermal energy that makes most of springs and water sources hot as well at sulfur and marine animals that makes fishing the island's major occupation.
