Personal Insight:

The Morinoes is an annual l and colorful Holy Week celebration being observed in the province of Marinduque in which participants wear the moriones and march around the town of Boac, Sta. Cruz, Gazan, Buenavista and Mogpog, which is considered as their stage. The centurions march around the town searching for Longinus, their former comrade that needed to be punished because of joining and  converting to Christianity.

Longinus, a Roman centurion who was blind on one eye. He was one of the Roman centurions who pierced the side of the Crucified Savior Jesus Christ with a spear to check if he is already dead. When a drop of blood and water afflicted his eye, poured forth from Christ's wound, he received healing and said confessed before everyone, "Truly this was the Son of God". (Mt. 27:54)

The event is also being highlighted with a theater presentation entitled, "Pugutan", refers to the execution of Longinus after one of the centurion caught him.
